VDEM SAR Program links SAR resources with requesting agencies from any local, State and Federal First Responders such as police, fire, EMS, Sheriffs, and others. Requests for search and rescue assistance come from local law enforcement to the Virginia Emergency Operations Center (800-468-8892) which operates 24/7, 365 days of the year.
